‏ Matthew 5:48

v. 48: Jesus finishes this teaching by saying, Be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48 a). This means we should aim to be as loving, merciful, and forgiving as God is. Christians should always try to grow in grace and holiness, copying the example of their heavenly Father (Philippians 3:12-14; 1 Peter 1:15-16 b). God’s perfection is seen in his kindness to all people, even enemies, and we should try to be like him, especially in forgiving and doing good to others (Luke 6:36 c).
