‏ Matthew 8:20

v. 20: Jesus replied, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head (Matthew 8:20 a). Jesus explained that following him would not be comfortable or easy. Even animals have homes, but Jesus did not. He wanted the scribe to understand that being his disciple could mean giving up even basic comforts. Jesus himself lived in poverty to show us that true riches are not in worldly things (2 Corinthians 8:9; Psalm 84:3 b).
