Numbers 17:8
Numbers 17:8 – Aaron’s Rod Buds This passage describes the miracle that ended the arguments about who should be high priest. When Moses brought out the twelve rods from the holy place, only Aaron’s rod had budded, blossomed, and produced almonds. This miracle was a clear sign from God that Aaron was chosen to serve as priest. God also commanded that Aaron’s rod be kept as a reminder to stop the people from complaining in the future. The people responded with fear and a new sense of respect for God’s holiness.v. 8-9: The next day, Moses brought out the rods in front of all the people. Aaron’s rod had sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced almonds, while the other rods remained unchanged (Num. 17:8-9 a). This was a miracle because a dry stick cannot suddenly have buds, flowers, and fruit all at once. It proved that God had chosen Aaron for the priesthood. Fruitfulness was the evidence of God’s blessing (Ps. 92:12-14 b).
