Proverbs 14:14
The Results of Backsliding and Faithfulness This proverb teaches about the consequences of turning away from God and the blessings of staying faithful. It shows that people who turn back to sin will be stuck with the results of their choices, but good people will be satisfied by the good that God does in their lives .v. 14: "The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself" (Proverbs 14:14 a). Someone who turns away from God in their heart will end up full of the consequences of their own actions. God lets them have what they want, but it will only bring them pain and regret. Backsliding starts inside, in the heart, and leads to misery and fear when people remember what they have done (Luke 11:26 b). On the other hand, a good person will be content and happy because of the good that God has worked in their life. They will have joy in their heart, knowing that their actions please God (Galatians 6:3 c). Sinners can never get enough of sin, but faithful people will never stop wanting more grace, until they reach heaven.
