‏ Psalms 1:4

Description and Doom of the Ungodly.

This section describes what the ungodly are like and explains what will happen to them in the end. The psalmist makes a strong contrast between the godly and the ungodly. While the righteous are blessed and fruitful, the ungodly have no real strength or stability. Their lives are empty, and their future is sad because they have chosen the wrong path.

v. 4: The ungodly are not like the righteous . Instead, they are like chaff that the wind drives away. Chaff is light, useless, and quickly blown away. This shows that the ungodly have no true worth or stability in God’s sight, even if they seem important in the world (Psalm 35:5 a).
