Psalms 19:14
v. 14: Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression (Psalm 19:13 a). We need God’s help to keep us from committing sins on purpose. These are very serious sins, and we must pray that they do not take control of our lives (Numbers 15:28-30 b). v. 15: May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer (Psalm 19:14 c). After thinking about how great God’s word is, the psalmist prays that God would accept his words and thoughts. He knows that only with God’s help can he please God (Psalm 66:18; Psalm 45:1 d).When we read or sing this psalm, we should remember how wonderful God’s word is, how dangerous sin is, and how much we need God’s help to live rightly. Let’s ask God to teach us, forgive us, and keep us close to Him.
