‏ Psalms 24:3

The Character of True Israelites

After thinking about how God owns the whole earth, the psalmist turns to a more important question: Who can come close to God and live with Him forever? Earthly things may be good, but they cannot satisfy our souls. True happiness is found with God, so we should desire to be in His presence and be counted among His special people. The “hill of the Lord” means God’s holy place, and it points to heaven and to the true church of God.

v. 3: The question is asked, “Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in His holy place?” . This means, who can come close to God, both now in worship and later in heaven? Our hearts should long for this more than for anything on earth.
