He pleads with God to restore and protect it, trusting in God’s power and promises. v. 8-9 : The psalmist recalls how God planted Israel like a vine. “You have brought a vine out of Egypt: you have cast out the heathen, and planted it. You prepared room before it, and caused it to take deep root, and it filled the land” (Psalm 80:8-9 ). God rescued Israel from Egypt and cleared the land of Canaan for them. He made them strong and established them as his people.
