Psalms 83:16
v. 16-18: He concludes with a prayer for God’s glory: “Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek your name, O Lord. Let them be confounded and troubled forever; yes, let them be put to shame, and perish: that men may know that you, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, are the most high over all the earth”(Psalm 83:16-18 a). The psalmist prays that God will humble the enemies so they might turn to him in repentance. If they refuse, their destruction will still show God’s glory and power to the entire world. He reminds us that God is sovereign over all nations and that his ultimate victory will prove that he alone is the true and most high God (Revelation 19:6 b).The psalm teaches us to trust in God’s justice and to pray for both the repentance of enemies and for God’s glory to be revealed through his judgment. Even when faced with opposition, we can be confident that God will protect his people and show his power over all the earth.
