‏ Psalms 92:1

Praising God on the Sabbath

This psalm was sung in the sanctuary on the Sabbath day—a day to remember God’s creation, His rest, and how He continues to care for the world. The Sabbath is not only a day to stop working, but also a day to do the holy work of praising God. Giving thanks and singing to God should be the center of our Sabbath, just as it points forward to the eternal rest believers will have through Jesus (Hebrews 4:9 a).

v. 1: The psalmist encourages us: It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises to your name, O Most High . Praising God is good for us and honors Him. It is our duty, and our privilege, to thank Him for all He has done.
