The “meek of the earth” are those who are humble, gentle, and try to do what is right. They are told to keep seeking God, to keep striving for more righteousness and more meekness. Even those who already have these qualities should try to grow in them, because hard times will test their character. Everyone should pray for more grace and strength. God wants us to never be satisfied with where we are, but to keep growing in faith and obedience (Psalm 35:20 ).
