Hos 3 | NASB2020 | STEP | Then the Lord said to me, “ Go again , love a woman who is loved by her husband , yet is committing adultery , as the Lord loves the sons of Israel , though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes .”

Hosea’s Redemption of Gomer

1 Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love ^{▼▼I.e., Gomer}a woman who is loved by her ^{▼▼Lit companion}husband, yet is committing adultery, ^cas the Lord loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love ^{▼▼Used in idolatry}raisin ^ecakes.” 2 So I ^fpurchased her for myself for fifteen shekels of silver, and a ^{▼▼About 7.7 cubic feet or 0.22 cubic meters}homer and a ^{▼▼About 3.8 cubic feet or 0.11 cubic meters}lethech of barley. 3 Then I said to her, “You shall ⁱlive with me for many days. You shall not play the prostitute, nor shall you have another man; so I will also be toward you.” 4 For the sons of Israel will live for many days ^jwithout a king or leader, ^kwithout sacrifice or ^lmemorial stone, and without ^mephod or ^{▼▼Heb teraphim} ^ohousehold idols. 5 Afterward the sons of Israel will ^preturn and seek the Lord their God and ^qDavid their king; and ^rthey will come trembling to the Lord and to His goodness in the last days.
