5But the army of the aChaldeans pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the bplains of Jericho; and they took him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at cRiblah in the land of Hamath, and he ▼

passed sentence on him. 6Then the eking of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah fbefore his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylon also slaughtered all the gnobles of Judah. 7He then hblinded Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in ishackles of bronze to bring him to jBabylon. 8The Chaldeans also kburned the king’s palace and the houses of the people with fire, and they ltore down the walls of Jerusalem. 9And as for the rest of the people who were left in the city, the mdeserters who had deserted to him and nthe rest of the people who remained, oNebuzaradan the pcaptain of the bodyguard took them into exile in Babylon.
