‏ Acts 1:12-14

1:12  a The witnesses of the ascension returned to Jerusalem with joy, worship, exhilaration, and praise to God (Luke 24:52  b), and with their doubts assuaged (see study note on Acts 1:3).
Summary for Acts 1:13-26: 1:13-26  c While the apostles waited for the promised gift of the Holy Spirit (1:4-5  d), the whole company of 120 disciples in Jerusalem engaged in earnest prayer (1:13-14  e) and then appointed an apostle to replace Judas Iscariot (1:15-26  f). 1:13  g All eleven of the remaining apostles were present (cp. Matt 10:2-4  h; Mark 3:16-19  i; Luke 6:13-16  j). Judas Iscariot is omitted from this list on account of his betrayal and death (Acts 1:18-19  k).
1:14  l The first disciples were united in worship, fellowship, and prayer (see also 2:42  m, 46-47  n; 4:24-31  o; 5:12  p; 12:5  q; 13:1-3  r). The faithful women who had been witnesses of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection were present (Luke 23:49  s, 54-56  t; 24:1-10  u, 22  v).

• The brothers of Jesus had not believed in him during his ministry (John 7:3-5  w; cp. Matt 12:46-49  x), but became his disciples after his resurrection.
