1:10 a Christ’s rising into heaven indicates his elevation to a place of ultimate authority (see Eph 1:19-23 b; Phil 2:9-11 c).1:11 d Jesus promised to return from heaven in the same way (see Matt 24:30 e; Mark 13:26 f; John 14:3 g). Jesus has gone to heaven to prepare the place for his followers (John 12:26 h; 14:1-4 i; 2 Cor 5:4 j; Phil 3:21 k; Heb 6:20 l).
