3:22 a Jesus fulfills the ancient promise of a Prophet like Moses (see Deut 18:15 b, 18 c; cp. John 6:14 d; 7:40 e).
3:23 f Refusing to heed Jesus, God’s final Prophet, would have disastrous consequences (John 3:16 g, 17 h, 36 i).
