Genesis 49:29-33
Summary for Gen 49:29-33: 49:29-33 a Bury me with my father: This grave in the land of Canaan represented hope for the future (cp. 47:29-30 b). Others buried at the cave of Machpelah near Hebron were Sarah (23:19 c), Abraham (25:7-9 d), Isaac (35:27-29 e), Rebekah, and Leah.49:33 f Jacob died at the age of 147 (47:28 g), bringing his life of struggle and sorrow to an end. Jacob had always had an unquenchable desire for God’s blessing. He had a deep piety that habitually relied on God despite all else. In the end, he died a man of genuine faith. He learned where real blessings come from, and through his faith would be able to hand these on to his sons (Heb 11:21 h).
