‏ Job 22:21-25

22:22  a The term instructions (Hebrew torah, “law,” Deut 17:11  b), used in Job only here, frequently refers to the Pentateuch (Genesis—Deuteronomy).

• Listen ... store: See Deut 4:1-2  c; 6:6-9  d; Ps 119:11  e; Prov 2:1-9  f. Job had done this (Job 23:12  g).
22:23  h return to the Almighty: Bildad (8:5-6  i) and Zophar (11:13-14  j) had already misapplied this biblical principle (Isa 55:6-7  k; Hos 14:1-2  l; Zech 1:3  m; Acts 26:20  n), and now Eliphaz also misapplies it.
22:24  o precious gold (literally Ophir): Ophir was probably located in southern Arabia (see 1 Kgs 9:28  p; 22:48  q). The gold of Ophir was the standard in fine gold (Isa 13:12  r); queens wore it at weddings (Ps 45:9  s).
22:25  t God promises to be his people’s treasure (Ps 16:5  u; Isa 33:6  v; Matt 19:21  w; Mark 10:21  x); although they possess nothing, they will be rich (2 Cor 6:10  y; Jas 2:5  z).
