14:15 ^d If you love me: Because Jesus loves the Father, he is obedient to what God directs him to say and do (12:49 ^e). If we love him, we will obey him too (14:21 ^f, 23 ^g; 15:10 ^h, 14 ⁱ; see 1 Jn 2:3-4 ^j; 5:2 ^k).
14:16 ^l another Advocate: The Spirit continues Jesus’ work by advising, defending, and protecting believers.
