Judges 19:15
19:15 a The normal rules of hospitality in Israel and the rest of the Near East obligated a citizen of the town to take them in (cp. Isa 58:7 b; Luke 14:13-14 c; Rom 12:13 d; 1 Tim 3:2 e; 5:10 f; Heb 13:2 g; 1 Pet 4:9 h). The Levite had funds and provisions (Judg 19:19 i), so there was even less excuse. This erosion of common civility is yet another evidence of social dysfunction at the time of Judges.
