‏ Mark 13:26-27

13:27  a The Son of Man, at his coming, will gather his chosen people—those who believe in him and follow him—from all over the world (see Zech 2:6  b) and from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven (see Deut 13:7  c; 30:4  d; Isa 42:10  e; 62:11  f). This hope is expressed frequently in the Old Testament (e.g., Ps 107:2-3  g; Isa 11:11-16  h; 27:12-13  i; 43:5-13  j; 49:12  k; 60:1-9  l; Jer 31:10  m). For Mark’s readers, this passage would have provided encouragement to endure and remain faithful despite the persecutions foretold in Mark 13:9-13  n. The Son of Man’s coming will also bring judgment on the unrighteous (8:38  o; 13:32-37  p; Matt 13:41-43  q; 24:36-51  r; 25:1-12  s, 31-46  t).
