4:18  a Epaphroditus (see also 2:25-30  b) had carried the gifts from Philippi.

• Their gifts were a sweet-smelling sacrifice: In the Old Testament, acceptable offerings were a pleasant fragrance to God (see Lev 1:9  c, 13  d, 17  e; 2:2  f, 9  g; 3:5  h, 16  i; cp. Rom 12:1  j; Eph 5:2  k).
