‏ Proverbs 2:16-22

2:16  a Wisdom keeps a young man from an immoral woman, helping him to resist her flattering, seductive words. Wisdom includes emotional maturity, restraint, and the ability to assess the purpose of someone’s speech.
2:17  b By pursuing another man, an immoral woman has abandoned her husband. Her marriage covenant ... before God included vows of faithfulness (cp. Mal 2:14-16  c).
Summary for Prov 2:18-19: 2:18-19  d leads ... to the grave: Adultery betrays a fundamental covenant with one’s spouse and with God (see also Gen 39:2-9  e; Mal 2:14  f).
Summary for Prov 2:20-22: 2:20-22  g Those who make wise choices will live in the land; those who do not will be evicted. God gave the land of Israel to his people, but they could only stay in it if they followed God’s commands (Deut 28:9-11  h, 64-68  i). Because they broke his law, they were expelled (in 586 BC; see 2 Kgs 25:1-30  j; 2 Chr 36:15-21  k).
