‏ Psalms 2:8-9

2:8  a In an example of the suzerain-vassal relationship between the Lord and Israel’s king (see Deuteronomy Book Introduction, “Literary Form”), the Lord invites the king to ask for favors (see Ps 21:2  b, 4  c).

• All nations will be subject to David’s descendant, the Messiah.
2:9  d The Lord gives his anointed ruler the power to conquer the nations as his inheritance (Isa 11:4  e; Rev 2:27  f; 12:5  g; 19:15  h), breaking their rebellion, resistance, and independence.
