Summary for Ps 101:1-8: Ps 101  a This hymn expresses a commitment to live with integrity and to avoid evil. Jesus meets this ideal.
101:2  b in my own home (literally in my house): This commitment to integrity might refer to private life at home. Some interpreters view my house as referring to the king’s palace; the commitment would then refer to the policies of his administration.

• Leading a life of integrity means choosing a wise lifestyle.
Summary for Ps 101:4-5: 101:4-5  c The psalmist hates what the Lord hates (Prov 6:16-19  d; see Pss 5:5  e; 11:4-5  f).
