‏ Revelation of John 19:13-16

19:13  a He wore a robe dipped in blood: This description may refer to (1) the blood of Christ’s enemies, signifying his total victory (Isa 63:2-4  b); or (2) Christ’s sacrificial death for humanity (Rev 1:7  c).

• The Word of God is John’s distinctive designation for Jesus (see John 1:1  d, 14  e).
19:14  f Christ’s armies of heaven, dressed in victorious white and riding on white horses, contrast with the locust forces of the abyss (9:3-11  g), the three frog-like evil spirits (16:13  h), and the defeated armies at Armageddon (16:16  i; see also 19:19  j).
19:15  k From his mouth ... a sharp sword: See 1:16  l; Heb 4:12  m; see also Isa 49:2  n; 2 Thes 2:8  o.

• The iron rod represents Christ’s power as ruler and as supreme shepherd (see Pss 2:9  p; 23:4  q).

• God, the Almighty: See Rev 1:8  r; 4:8  s; 11:17  t; 16:7  u, 14  v; 21:22  w.

• His fierce wrath will crush his enemies like grapes in a winepress (Isa 63:2-4  x).
19:16  y King ... and Lord: See 1:5  z; 15:3  aa; 17:14  ab.
