11:25  a After supper might suggest that the main meal separated the breaking of the bread from the drinking of the cup (see Luke 22:20  b).

• The new covenant is God’s promise to forgive sins because of the sacrificial death of Jesus (cp. Jer 31:31-34  c; 32:40  d; Luke 22:20  e; Heb 7:22  f; 8:8-10  g; 9:15  h; 10:12-18  i; 12:24  j; 13:20  k). The blood of a sacrifice confirmed an agreement or covenant (see Exod 24:8  l; Zech 9:11  m; Heb 9:12  n; 13:20  o; cp. Rom 3:25  p; 5:9  q).
