‏ 1 Samuel 26:6-12

26:6  a This is the only reference to Ahimelech the Hittite.

• Zeruiah was David’s sister (1 Chr 2:16  b), so Abishai was David’s nephew. The sons of Zeruiah (Abishai, Joab, and Asahel) were three of David’s most faithful followers (e.g., 2 Sam 2:18  c), but they sometimes caused David difficulty (see 2 Sam 3:39  d; 16:10  e; 19:22  f).
26:8  g God has surely handed your enemy over to you: Cp. 24:4  h.
26:9  i the Lord’s anointed: See study note on 24:6.
26:10  j David was confident that God would judge between him and Saul just as he had done between him and Nabal (see 25:38  k). Saul did die ... in battle against the Philistines (31:6  l).
