2:14 ^a He called you to salvation: God calls his chosen ones to himself (1:11 ^b; 1 Thes 2:12 ^c; 4:7 ^d; 5:24 ^e) through the preaching of the Good News.

• Those who suffer because of their faith will ultimately share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom 5:2 ^f; 8:17-18 ^g; Col 1:27 ^h; 1 Thes 2:12 ⁱ).
2:15 ^j Ever since the founding of the Thessalonian church, Paul had been concerned for the stability of their faith (1 Thes 3:2 ^k, 5 ^l, 8 ^m; 4:1-2 ⁿ) and their adherence to his teaching (2 Thes 3:6 ^o; 1 Cor 11:2 ^p; 15:3 ^q; see Jude 1:3 ^r).
