‏ Psalms 102:3-11

102:3  a Smoke is an image of transitory life (37:20  b; 68:2  c).

• The psalmist’s bones represent his whole being (see 6:2  d; 34:19-22  e).
102:4  f Like dried grass, the psalmist senses his life ebbing away.
102:5  g skin and bones: The psalmist has wasted away because of his anguish (see 102:9  h; 109:24  i).
102:6  j The owl was associated with ruin and desolation (Isa 34:11  k, 15  l).
Summary for Ps 102:7-8: 102:7-8  m The psalmist cannot sleep (see 63:6-8  n). Like a bird on the roof, he feels isolated from both friends (see 88:8  o) and enemies.
102:10  p The psalmist blames the Lord for his troubles.
102:11  q The psalmist’s existence seems empty and transitory (102:4  r; 109:23  s; 144:4  t).
