Summary for Ps 119:9-16: 119:9-16  a Beth (ב): The psalmist is determined to pursue purity and encourages the cultivation of wisdom through God’s principles (119:9  b) and instructions (119:10-16  c). 119:9  d A young person tends toward foolishness (Prov 22:15  e) and can easily make mistakes that destroy his life (Prov 7:6-23  f). Youth is also the best time to develop personal discipline and pursue wisdom (see Ps 34:11  g; Prov 1:4  h).

• To stay pure means to remain uncorrupted by wickedness and sin and to develop the integrity of life defined in Ps 15  i.
119:10  j The student asks God the teacher to discipline him so that he will not wander.
119:14  k God’s wisdom is far greater than any riches humans seek (119:72  l, 127  m; Prov 3:14-15  n).
119:15  o The way of wisdom includes meditating on God’s ways (see 119:1  p, 3  q). The wise reflect on the implications of God’s word.
