‏ Psalms 83

God Implored to Confound His Enemies.

A Song, a Psalm of Asaph.

1 God, ado not remain quiet;
bDo not be silent and, God, do not be still.

2 For behold, Your enemies cmake an uproar,
And dthose who hate You have
Lit lifted up the head
fexalted themselves.

3 They gmake shrewd plans against Your people,
And
Or consult
conspire together against iYour
Or hidden ones
treasured ones.

4 They have said, “Come, and klet’s wipe them out
Lit from
as a nation,
So that the mname of Israel will no longer be remembered.”

5 For they have
Or consulted
oconspired together with one mind;
They make a covenant against You:

6 The tents of pEdom and the qIshmaelites,
rMoab and the sHagrites;

7 tGebal, uAmmon, and vAmalek,
wPhilistia with the inhabitants of xTyre;

8 yAssyria also has joined them;
They have become
Lit an arm
a help to the aachildren of Lot. Selah

9 Deal with them abas with Midian,
As acwith Sisera and Jabin at the river of Kishon,

10 Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who adbecame like dung for the ground.

11 Make their nobles like aeOreb and Zeeb,
And all their leaders like afZebah and Zalmunna,

12 Who said, “ agLet’s possess for ourselves
The ahpastures of God.”

13 My God, make them like the
Or tumbleweed
ajwhirling dust,
Like akchaff before the wind.

14 Like alfire that burns the forest,
And like a flame that amsets the mountains on fire,

15 So pursue them anwith Your heavy gale,
And terrify them with Your storm.

16 aoFill their faces with dishonor,
So that they will seek Your name, Lord.

17 May they be apashamed and dismayed forever,
And may they be humiliated and perish,

18 So that they will aqknow that arYou alone, whose name is the Lord,
Are the asMost High over all the earth.
