Revelation of John 6
The First Seal: Conqueror on a White Horse
1 Then I saw when the aLamb broke one of the bseven seals, and I heard one of the cfour living creatures saying as with a dvoice of thunder, “Come ▼▼One early ms and see
!” 2I looked, and behold, a fwhite horse, and the one who sat on it had a bow; and ga crown was given to him, and he went out hconquering and to conquer. The Second Seal: War
3 When He broke the second seal, I heard the isecond living creature saying, “Come ▼▼One early ms and see
!” 4And another, ka red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to ltake peace from the earth, and that people would kill one another; and a large sword was given to him. The Third Seal: Famine
5 When He broke the third seal, I heard the mthird living creature saying, “Come ▼▼One early ms and see
!” I looked, and behold, a oblack horse, and the one who sat on it had a ppair of scales in his hand. 6And I heard something like a voice in the center of the qfour living creatures saying, “A ▼▼Gr choenix; i.e., a dry measure almost equal to a qt.
quart of wheat for a ▼▼The denarius was a day’s wages for a laborer
denarius, and three ▼▼Gr choenix; i.e., a dry measure almost equal to a qt.
quarts of barley for a ▼▼The denarius was a day’s wages for a laborer
denarius; and vdo not damage the oil and the wine.” The Fourth Seal: Death
7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the wfourth living creature saying, “Come ▼▼One early ms and see
!” 8I looked, and behold, ▼▼Or a sickly pale green
an zashen horse; and the one who sat on it had the name aaDeath, and abHades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, acto kill with sword, and famine, and ▼▼Lit death; i.e., a particular kind of death
plague, and by the wild animals of the earth. The Fifth Seal: Martyrs
9 When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw aeunderneath the afaltar the agsouls of those who had been killed ahbecause of the word of God, and because of the aitestimony which they had maintained; 10and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “ ajHow long, O ▼▼Or Master
alLord, amholy and true, ▼▼Lit do You not judge and avenge
will You refrain from aojudging and avenging our blood on apthose who live on the earth?” 11And a aqwhite robe was given to each of them; and they were told that they were to arrest for a little while longer, asuntil the number of their fellow servants and their brothers and sisters who were to be killed even as they had been, was atcompleted also. The Sixth Seal: Terror
12 And I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great auearthquake; and the avsun became as black as awsackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; 13and axthe stars of the sky fell to the earth, ayas a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. 14 azThe sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and baevery mountain and island was removed from its place. 15Then bbthe kings of the earth and the eminent people, and the commanders and the wealthy and the strong, and every slave and free person hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; 16and they * bcsaid to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the ▼▼Lit face
sight of Him bewho sits on the throne, and from the bfwrath of the Lamb; 17for bgthe great day of Their wrath has come, and bhwho is able to stand?”
