But all other flying insects that have four legs you are to regard as unclean.

‘“Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth,

‘“You must therefore make a distinction between clean and unclean animals and between unclean and clean birds. Do not defile yourselves by any animal or bird or anything that moves along the ground – those that I have set apart as unclean for you.

“If you come across a bird’s nest in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs and the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs you shall not take the mother with the young.

Your carcasses will be food for all the birds and the wild animals, and there will be no one to frighten them away.

And your dead body shall be food for all birds of the air and for the beasts of the earth, and there shall be no one to frighten them away.
