Moses said to Joshua, ‘Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.’

Moses said to Joshua, “

So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill.

Joshua did as
Moses told him, and
fought with
Amalek, while

Hur went up to the
top of the

So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.
And
Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his
people with the

Lord said to Moses, ‘Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.’

Lord said to Moses, “

memorial in a
book and
recite it in the

Joshua, that I will
utterly blot out the
memory of
Amalek from
under heaven.”

Then Moses set out with Joshua his assistant, and Moses went up on the mountain of God.

assistant Joshua the

Nun, a
young man, would
not depart from the
tent.

Lord has surely given the whole land into our hands; all the people are melting in fear because of us.’

Lord said to Joshua,

Lord had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down.

midst of the
Jordan, according to the

lodged and

Joshua set up the twelve stones that had been in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day.
